Alright so you want to plan an amazing poker party for your friends, but you don’t know how to play poker? Well that’s okay. If this is the case, it’s probably best that you stick to an easy game like Blackjack. The rules are fairly simple and it’ll be a blast. Just follow my instructions and you’ll be a pro in no time.
1. The first thing you will want to do is make sure you are fully stocked with all of the proper supplies. You will need a deck of cards, a poker table, chairs and poker chips. Also make sure that you have instructions on hand for reference in case you or some of the other players are unfamiliar with the rules.
2. Make sure you are also familiar with card values. A king, queen, jack and ten are always worth ten points. The other cards are their face value.
3. When you are ready to begin, deal two cards, one facedown and one face up to each player. The goal of Blackjack it for the total of one’s cards to be as close to 21 as possible. The dealer will also receive two cards; one facedown and one face up. After the cards have been dealt the dealer asks the player to the left whether he or she would like to get another card or stay where they’re at. It’s best that beginning always assume that the facedown card is a ten, so they won’t ‘bust.’ The dealer will ask everyone and then decide for themselves as well.
4. Once everyone has decided to stop, you will flip over your card and the person who is closest to or exactly at 21 wins the pot.
5. There are more complicated rules that you can utilize if you’re comfortable. For example, you can “split pairs” if you are dealt two cards with the same face value. This will allow you to make two piles and increase your chances of reaching 21. If you choose to do this, you will have to place another bet equal to the previous and the dealer will give you a new card for each hand.
