I don’t drink a whole lot of soda but when I do I make sure to only drink the finest in cola beverages. I drink my soda out of fine glassware to let the oxygen fully emolliate and for the flavor to reach perfection. Most of these choices should not surprise anyone because they have been some of the most popular drinks in America and elseware. Here is a list of my favorite canned and bottled sodas.
Mr. Pibb (also known as Pibb Xtra)
It is sad to see what the Coca-Cola Company has done to this once proud soda franchise. Now marketed to the energy-drinking youth of America always craving their next caffeine mix, Coca-Cola has changed the name of their product from the suave and debonair “Mr. Pibb” to the insulting “Pibb Xtra.” Still, Mr. Pibb is a fine cola product with hints of caramel and cinnamon.
Sunkist
Really, how can you turn down the refreshing, orange flavored soda-brilliance that is Sunkist? Forever associated with warm summer days and beach fun, Sunkist goes down the best while soaking up some rays by the pool. I’m a huge fan of Sunkist but have certain qualms about the new slogan “Feel all orange inside.” I don’t know what that means and frankly I don’t want to know. It sounds downright tawdry to me. I just want to drink my Sunkist in peace.
Barq’s Root Beer
One of the few largely untarnished sodas from the very early 1900s, Barq’s has remained mostly untouched since it’s early days, including the classic, “Olde Tyme” style can. Originally Barq’s did not include caffeine but today the regular Barq’s has caffeine but Diet Barq’s does not. So popular, Barq’s can also be bought in kegs for that extra special, fresh taste. If you’re looking for a great non-alcoholic drink to get for your big party, Barq’s is always a great choice. Barq’s is great anytime but especially when sitting around the campfire, switching on the f150 hid lights to properly see the root beer tap and telling some good stories.
